A New Landmark for Agriculture and Food Education in Somalia

On May 2, 2023, a new additional building for the Bahrain Faculty of Agriculture and food sciences was officially inaugurated at Zamzam University’s main campus in Mogadishu, Somalia. The structure was funded by the Kingdom of Bahrain’s KAAF humanitarian and implemented by Zamzam Foundation.

 

The opening ceremony was attended by high level dignitaries including Dr. Ismail Yusuf the director of higher education for Somalia’s Ministry of Education, Culture, and Higher Education, Dr. Khaled Ahmed the Chairman of the Boards of Trustees for KAAF Humanitarian and Ustad Shuayb Abdulatif of Zamzam foundation, Mr. Mohamed Sayyar, CEO of Kaaf Humanity, and Mohamud Mohamed Harbi the Rector of Zamzam University, the Deputy rector, dean of the faculty of Agriculture, Faculty member and Students.

The new building is a modern structure that will house classrooms, offices, laboratories, and a library for Agriculture and Food Sciences teachers and students. The structure will also function as research, and community engagement hub for university innovation centers.

Zamzam University’s Faculty of Agriculture and Food Sciences is one of the best and most creative agricultural institutions in Somalia.
