Zamzam University of Science and Technology (ZUST) continues to take proactive steps to safeguard the health and well-being of its students through awareness, education, and access to essential information. In collaboration with local health organizations and community NGOs, the University recently launched a comprehensive awareness campaign focusing on sexual and reproductive health-care services and drug abuse prevention.
The initiative was led by the Faculty of Health Sciences and the Student Affairs Office, with the goal of empowering young people to make informed choices about their health, relationships, and lifestyle. The campaign featured interactive seminars, open discussions, and counseling sessions conducted by healthcare professionals and trained facilitators. Through these activities, students learned about topics such as reproductive health, family planning, prevention of sexually transmitted infections, and the risks associated with drug use. The sessions also highlighted the importance of mental well-being and self-respect in building a safe and supportive campus environment.
The campaign provided not only education but also access to health-care services, including confidential counseling and referrals to partner clinics for those seeking additional medical or psychological support. The collaboration with local NGOs ensured that students could continue to receive guidance and assistance beyond the university campus. Many students expressed appreciation for the program, noting that it created a more open and understanding atmosphere for discussing sensitive issues that are often overlooked in traditional settings. By promoting awareness and access to reproductive health and wellness services, ZUST reaffirms its commitment to SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-Being) and to nurturing a generation of informed, healthy, and responsible youth.
