Zamzam University of Science and Technology (ZUST) works closely with local and national health institutions to strengthen health outcomes and promote community well-being. These collaborations bring together academic expertise, community outreach, and professional training to advance the goals of SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-Being).
1. Midwifery Training with ZAAD Foundation
ZUST partnered with ZAAD Foundation to conduct a specialized training program for 37 working midwives from public and private health facilities. The program focused on maternal and newborn health, safe delivery practices, and emergency care. Delivered through the Faculty of Health Sciences, it enhanced the professional skills of healthcare workers and directly supported safer maternity outcomes.
2. Mental Health and Well-Being Campaign with NRC and SOS Somalia
ZUST collaborated with the Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) and SOS Somalia to organize a large-scale campaign on mental health and emotional well-being. The initiative targeted working mothers, students, and university staff, offering counseling, stress management sessions, and public lectures on mental wellness. The campaign aimed to reduce stigma around mental health and to create more supportive environments within schools and workplaces.
These collaborations demonstrate ZUST’s commitment to improving both physical and mental health in Somali communities. By linking education, advocacy, and practice, the university contributes directly to a healthier, more resilient society while promoting SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-Being) and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals).
